Short history of Brasil Chamber of Commerce

Founded in 1924, the Chamber of Commerce of Brazil in Spain represents, promotes and defends the general interests of Brazilian and Spanish companies that are associated.

The Chamber stopped functioning in 1995. It was re-opened in 2003 by its President Carlos Moreira García with help from Javier Cremades. Thanks to the dedication of its Secretary General, Lea M. Del Prá Netto, who kept the archives and maintained its office, the Chamber is able to function again.

The Chamber is most involved in industrial construction, commercial service sectors, partucularly the hotel industry, transport, communications, savings, finances, securities, renting, speculations, gambling, artistic activities, as well as those related to agency, intermediation, representation or consignment, valuation and liquidation of all sorts, real-estate, industrial property, negotiable values, securities and credit.

Goal of the Chamber

The most direct goal of the Chamber consists in the representation and service of those affiliated businessmen and companies creating the favourable conditions to stimulate the business activity and the well-being of the community.

Partners of the Chamber

Any person or company that conducts business between Brazil and Spain will be eligible for Chambers membership.

The Ambassador of Brazil in Spain is always the Honorary President of the Chamber.

People who win merit awards for the encouragement of Spanish-Brazilian economic relationships or those that help the goals of the Chamber, can be named Honorary Partners of the Chamber.

The Commercial Attaché of the Embassy of Brazil, during the term of duty, will be invited to all the meetings of the Board of Directors.

Objectives of the Chamber

The objectives of the chamber are the following:

To be the institution of reference in Spain for Brazilian businesses that develop their economic activities in Spain, as well as for those Spanish businesses that are interested in Brazil as possible objective of expansion and alliance;

To promote and patronize the growth of the Brazilian initiatives in Spain as well as activate the integration of private investors in the Brazilian commercial and industrial system;

To promote and assist the Brazilian companies in their relationships with the Spanish administration;

To represent Brazilian businesses before the organs of government of commerce in Spain;

To employ its resources to obtain detailed information about the market in Spain to provide when solicited by Brazilian companies;

To register, authenticate, recognize and certify agreements, analysis, and other informative documents about products for Brazilian companies;

To develop and maintain an up-to-date Integrated System of Data and Information related with the interests promoted by the Chamber;

To promote fairs, shows, exhibitions and other events of Brazil in Spain;

To promote the edition of periodic publications in Spain with views to broadcast and facilitate the commercialization of Brazilian products, goods and services;

To promote the extra-judicial resolution of conflicts between companies in the national as well as international arena through their own Court of Arbitration.
